Dana Airplane crash update:plane was too faulty to fly. who exactly do we blame?

I remember once my lecturer had mentioned that his reason for moving with his family to settle in North Cyprus  was to "live long". I thought about it for a while after that day.. I hadn't really thought about all the accidents that had taken place in my country..
So I wondered.... Is my country a death trap ??

Growing up in Nigeria, I had always felt that surviving each day was a MEGA miracle.I always thought all the accidents and robbery attacks were just unfortunate incidents that could not be prevented and one had to be SUPER prayerful to come back home each day alive.
Unlike those days when I was much younger, I am wiser now. I know that all these accidents can be prevented if many Nigerians in their various sectors aren't so corrupt and wicked especially with issues concerning human lives. I have sadly realized that because of the very irritating negligence of many Nigerians (leaders and followers) , people have lost their lives to very silly avoidable accidents.

Yesterday, 153 people lost their lives to a plane crash and at least 15 people died from a bomb blast in Bauchi . Someone I know lost six friends in that plane crash and she had narrowly escaped. Just like her, many people lost uncles , aunties, friends, parents.....loved ones. :(

I read  that the Indian owners of the airline threw caution to the wind and insisted that the plane must fly in a bid to maximize profit....
According to a Dana Air official, “the plane has being giving faults for a very long time. There was a case when it was on ground in Uyo for over six hours, because of delayed flight, it had a bolt. And then in Abuja it happened a few days ago, then some people went with the aircraft but they could not come back, because it had a fault there and it couldnt leave Abuja.”
“The same engineers that fixed it and then they sent crew to bring it with passengers to Lagos.”
Confirming that the plane that crashed on Sunday, was not supposed to leave Lagos at all, the Dana official stated that “yesterday, it (Dana Air flight 0992) was not supposed to leave Lagos at all, but it left and then got to Calabar, gave fault and it was fixed and then they took it to Abuja, when they should have returned to Lagos but because they didn’t want to part with the little money they will make,  they took it to Abuja, loaded full passengers, and then it couldn’t get to Lagos. ”

                                                                                    UNBELIEVEABLE
Dear official , thanks for letting us know but what happened to you before that plane took off, were you too scared to say something?? would have allowed your loved ones to use that plane??
why did you not warn others anonymously through this same media house or another means about how dangerous the plane was  and how the Indian owners were not bothered long before now??
Why did the engineers not find a way to make sure the plane did not take off ??and if the pilot knew about it, why did he risk his life when he could have saved 153 passengers and himself????

There'll be heavy rain and poles will fall on people killing them on the spot and I ask myself who is responsible for checking those poles or signboards?
Roads will be so bad and trucks / trailers will still find a way to park on those roads.. where is the sense in that ???
Planes that should not even be used to fly a mosquito, will fly 153 people and I ask , who the hell is responsible??
Why people still live very close to the airport knowing the risk involved in 2012 is just beyond me ...

The problems with our dear country did not start today and the solution is not with President Jonathan alone . Every Nigerian is accountable for the sad death trap the country has become.
Do not take bribe and be quiet or give bribe to silence someone.
If you hear or see something wrong, report it or make use of twitter, facebook or BBM or anonymously report to a media house or a popular blog.
Don't just keep quiet and do NOTHING.If you do,you are just as guilty as the leaders you curse.

Someone left the comment below on a post on another blog:
"Also people should be careful using airlines in nigeria such as AirNigeria.I used to owerri sometime last October,it was horrible, the sound from the engine, the filtness of the interior, the broken seats,..I wish it only politicians that can perish in that aircraft because the owners of the airlines are their friends and cronies and therefore,no one cares to regulate the industry. Only Arik is really really safe"

please feel free to use the comment section to warn people about other planes that are in worse conditions or about any other thing please.

May the souls of all those that died in the plane crash and Bauchi bomb blast  rest in peace and may God give their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
AMEN

SO WHO HAS RESERVATIONS ABOUT ANNIE SAYING YES TO TUFACE'S PROPOSAL

    Well, I do.
Is it my business? NO
should I keep typing? OFCOURSE YES
In my opinion, Tuface has just satisfied society by finally deciding to get "married" because left to me I'll say he is already married to 3 wives and is the father of five children with one on the way making SIX!!.
Now the sixth child does not even belong to Annie who earlier today said "yes" to his marriage proposal at club 10. So am I exactly happy for her? I am not sure.
The comment below on BellaNaija practically sums up how I feel:

"...I dont know if I am happy or sad for her. If it’s all about finally getting the man you have waited and hustled for and that you have come out victorious, then I am ecstatic for her. She has overcome. But if it is about love, commitment, faithfulness, fidelity, then I worry, I really worry. Nothing God cannot do sha. I wish them both well." by temi of http://temiville.wordpress.com/
but.... like I always say no one knows about a relationship better than the two people in it so only her knows why she should be excited .
I also hope  just for the sake of everyone's safety that the other women especially the one who is pregnant for him are sort of at peace with this recent development .

For many reasons based on my recent research on some things I shall let you all know about later, I CONDEMN NONE OF THEM :- the other women, the one who is pregnant, the one who said yes or the man who has "finally" decided to settle down.
Afterall, let he/she who hasn't done something wrong in his/her life,
cast the first stone
I wish both annie and tuface well
as well as the other parties involved.

Rest In Peace Whitney Houston

Growing up as a child, I found that there were some songs I just sort of came into the world to meet and love maybe because everyone loved them or that they just sounded really good to me. Years passed and these songs still remained loved and then at some point I began to find out that many of these songs had the beautiful Whitney Houston written all over them.

"From the start of her career more than two decades ago, Ms. Houston had the talent, looks and pedigree of a pop superstar. She was the daughter of Cissy Houston, a gospel and pop singer who had backed up Aretha Franklin, and the cousin of Dionne Warwick. (Ms. Franklin is Ms. Houston’s godmother.) Ms. Houston’s range spanned three octaves, and her voice was plush, vibrant and often spectacular. She could pour on the exuberant flourishes of gospel or peal a simple pop chorus; she could sing sweetly or unleash a sultry rasp."

To be honest , she got involved with drugs/ her dark age started when I was still young so I can't say I am a "die-hard" fan of Whitney but ofcourse she is a legend and her songs are classics that were and still are a part of us.

Sadly just like the great Michael Jackson (may his soul rest in peace), Whitney Houston fought her dark side and most likely, died still fighting. We all have the parts of us we have to fight but I guess for her being a celebrity and the harsh words from the media did not help at all.
Whitney was found in her room at 3:55 p.m. on the 11th day of February, 2012 and paramedics spent close to 20 minutes trying to revive her, the authorities said.Whitney died at the age of 48.
Although the Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office declined to release the coroner's initial finding of cause of death, saying lab results were expected in six to eight weeks, news has it that bottles of Lorazepam, Valium, Xanax and a sleeping medication were found in the hotel room, it has been claimed. The drugs were believed to have acted as sedatives, causing her to fall asleep in the bathtub once they had been mixed with alcohol from the previous evenings.

I pray that her soul rests in perfect peace and that God comforts her family especially her daughter who was admitted after allegedly passing out, after drinking alcohol and then taking a sedative pill given to her by one of her mother's entourage to calm her down, upon learning of the devastating news.

Rest in Peace Whitney.

You gave a lot to the world through your music.

#LagosStorm THE RAIN, THE WIND AND THE PEOPLE I BLAME FOR THE DAMAGES

Maybe not all the damages..oh well
I woke up this morning to the sound of a very heavy rain and serious wind to go with it. Anyways, it finally reduced and I headed for work in a very happy, chilled mood listening to the radio. Everything seemed okay until I started seeing trees , poles and all sorts that had fallen and then someone called on the radio saying a pole had fallen on someone at obalende and another had fallen on a car. I think at some point the news got to me and when I got to the first lekki roundabout and saw the signposts that had fallen flat, I was pissed.
WHY??
I know the rain was heavy but the signposts were practically uprooted from the ground and was just laying flat on the surface. I was like "seriously, who the hell was incharge of  fixing these signposts??" I mean signposts are supposed to remain for years and in my opinion should be properly fixed in the ground..HUGE EMPHASIS on the word "properly". Its not even new to Lagosians how terrible the wind can be especially with the situations we had last year.
So I cannot understand the kind of job that was done that wind will blow a signpost to the extent that its "stems" are uprooted from the ground.
do you understand what i mean??

This also goes for the poles that fell in a similar way. Just take a look at the antennae at PHCN(Nigeria's power holding company) Ikoyi.

WHY??
I understand the rain was heavy but there'll always be rain and wind.. it is the duty of those awarded these jobs to do their work properly. Must some people in this country do things "half half" all the time??
 *rolling my eyes*

what do you feel?

Dear broken-hearted, fall in love with you first

I Just read a post from a fellow blogger where she stipulates that Loneliness isn’t the absence of emotions but actually the absence of direction. Well for someone that hates taking every statement hook, line and sinker, I pondered on this paradigm till one evening a friend and I were discussing and I asked her how she intended spending her valentine’s day.I teased her on how she should carefully select what she intends to buy for her lover, the delicacy of the bars of chocolate she should select, the class of the perfumes she needed to buy, and most importantly the tone and sincerity of her voice when she tells him I LOVE YOU. Unknown to me,I was stirring pain and anguish deep within her and had no idea till she broke into tears. As she spoke to me, I could feel she felt completely and totally dejected and not good enough, she felt as if her very essence for her existence was boarded around her ten year relationship with her boyfriend who at the turn of the new year informed her he was GETTING MARRIED

It is the season of love yet again couples strive hard to remind themselves how they feel about each other, a season where guys like me wonder why we still don’t have a girlfriend(S)  , the almost perfect time to propose with a diamond or titanium ring and hope she says yes, a day where you could just ask that girl or guy across the street or at work to the movies and hopes he/she doesn’t turn you down, and sadly for a vast majority like my lonely, heartbroken and emotionally hurt friend, a day where you just ponder of what could have been or why me?
One of the worst things in life asides losing a loved one is watching that loved one love someone else, trust me it hurts like a >>>I KNOW…stumbling on their happy or wedding pictures anytime you open your facebook page, scrolling only to see them express their love on twitter and of course if you aren’t strong enough to delete them from your yahoo messenger or BBM, watch him /her change their Display Picture every second while you dwell and lavish in your so called self pity and loneliness.
But the reason you are lonely isn’t because you don’t have someone loving you no more neither is it because the one you love is loving someone else nor because you feel there is something wrong with you spiritually or physically, you just simply lack direction.
Think about it, where were you going before you met them? What were you dreams and ambitions? What were those things that you could do that maybe their presence stopped you from doing? If you slumped and died at the moment of intensive thinking and emotional torture do you think they would care?
You being this lonely only means and spells out that you never ever cherished yourself and quite frankly you should be thanking God they left.

There is a popular saying that goes somehow like this
you must first learn to love yourself before you can be loved or even love
Love is the reason for the season and no one deserves to steal your happiness away no matter what and if you  feel the need for company take a friend, a colleague, a relation, a sibling out or better still take me out(@maestroeni) …… :D.
LOVE YA,

#WEEKLY REPORTS- FUEL SUBSIDY PROBE COMES TO AN END, BOKO HARAM, NGO TO CELEBRATE VIRGINS AND MORE

For last week's report click -> http://dangeleyez.blogspot.com/2012/02/weeklyreports-news-on-asuu-boko-haram.html
FUEL SUBSIDY PROBE COMES TO AN END
  • After three weeks of sittings that laid bare several frontiers of abuses that cost the nation’s petroleum sector trillions of naira, the House of Representatives public hearings on subsidy management ended Thursday.“Some of the reports will need the executive to act, some will require the legislature to do some work and even the judiciary may be required to work on some,” Mr Farouk Lawan said.“We hope and pray the relevant agencies of government implement some of these reports.”He also adds that the report is expected in weeks.
  •  The House of Representatives ad-hoc committee drop, the committee, has queried the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) over allegations by the accountant-general of Liberia indicting the company with surplus supply of crude oil to Liberia in the excess of one million barrels. The matter was raised by Hon James Faleke who said he was in receipt of a document that showed that Adax Petroleum was authorised by the NNPC to supply ten thousand barrels of crude oil to the Liberian government on behalf of the federal government but questionably supplied one million barrels of crude oil instead. But the group managing director of NNPC, Mr. Austin Oniwon, who expressed shock at the revelation, adding that he does not have any idea of the said deal.
  •  In a similar development, the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) and NNPC could not give the committee a definite pump price of kerosene.According to NNPC, a litre is sold for N50, the PPMC said it goes for N95 while PPPRA argued that the price is N151 per litre.Although the official price of kerosene is pegged at N50 per litre by the government, in some parts of the country, consumers pay as high as N150 per litre to buy kerosene product from independent marketers.
--MALLAM NUHU RIBADU ACCEPTS FG APPOINMENT
  • Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, accepted the offer as chairman of the 21-man Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force. He says that his decision is in the interest of the nation.Read more on his reasons for his decision ->http://dangeleyez.blogspot.com/2012/02/why-i-accepted-fg-appointment-mallam.html ACN made clear that Ribadu is on his own and Femi Falana says that Ribadu's decision is personal
BOKO HARAM
  • Multiple explosions rocked the Kaduna metropolis as bombs allegedly planted by members of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram went off in two military formations and under the popular Kawo Flyover in the state capital on Tuesday February 7. The explosions began at about 11.45am at the One Division of the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kaduna .
  • Although Boko Haram claims it wasn't its spokesman, Abul-Qaqa that was arrested by the SSS but its enlightenment officer, SSS insists and confirms that the man arrested is Abul-qaqa.
  • Runaway high-profile Boko Haram suspect/christmas day bomb blast suspect, Kabiru Umaru Sokoto was re-arrested in Taraba state.
OTHERS
  • The Federal Government has proposed the introduction of security education as a subject in primary and junior secondary schools.
  • FG has perfected plans to introduce new curriculum in the nations primary and secondary schools beginning from the next academic session.
--MURDER & SUICIDE
  • Susy Q, the lady who owns SQ lounge and was recently in the news about ending her Jonzing club partnership with DPrince, was today stabbed to death at her flat at 1004 flats in Victoria Island. According to the report, Suzy Q was stabbed to death at her flat on the 6th Floor of D Block, 1004 flats. The man who killed her jumped from the 6th floor (12 stories up) to his death when people were rushing towards him.
--NGO TO CELEBRATE VIRGINS
  • An Umuahia-based non governmental organisation, NGO, Attitude Productions, has disclosed that it would encourage young girls to maintain their virginity as a way of raising moral standards in the society.“The 2012 celebration is going to be the first of its kind the world over and it is important to note that this celebration is starting in Nigeria,“Any girl that keeps her virginity till marriage will be celebrated and the first set of virgins will be rewarded with brand new cars during the 2013 World Purity Day,” he said.

    TO ACT LIKE A LEADER

I Just read a very intriguing biography of a remarkable woman, mother and leader Mrs Margaret Thatcher ,and if she had balls I would say they were made of iron. A really determined and tough woman, little wonder the movie “IRON LADY”  played by another AMAZON Meryl Streep has received huge a claim over the past weeks. One element that caught my attention was the fact that she was a steady leader that positioned herself and her country for greatness.
What habits, character traits are inherent in leaders especially in a growing society where a lot of our leaders even our Presidents, C.E.O, Bank directors have lost the faith and support of their subordinations within the twinkle of an eye.
In Nigeria it has been and still is business as usual when leaders appear in the media and make promises and give assurances only for the masses to be left hoping and waiting to see when will fulfill their promises. Integrity is simply indispensable; one’s ability to say and perform according to the dictates of their words can never be over emphasized. So if you in head of your department or heading a small group always remember to tell the truth and avoid lies and excuses.

One very important tool President Barack Obama emphasized in his book Audacity of hope is "Listen like you mean it" this might seem easy, but it entails abandoning all you are doing and looking at the speaker straight in the eyes, paying attention to every detailed information ask questions, Benjamin Disraeli observed “talk to a man about himself and he listens for hours” Listening increases likeability, and likability leads to trust in a leader.
There is never an excuse for anyone to whine no matter the circumstance, whining only shows that you have been defeated by the present challenge and the last resort is running you mouth in a systematic correlation of stuffs people don’t want to hear from a leader. If you are leader suck it up and think constructively, the solution is around the corner.
Long before Tiger Woods I have always hated Golf but I hardly know a major broker or CEO that doesn’t swing the club and most times if you want to strike a major deal with the big shots, you seal it up during their leisure hours. Mixing business with pleasure might be the most technical but it is a trait we need to learn and master. Knowing when to shake hands, etiquette and pay compliments pitches you in a class of your own.
Rewards never come without occasionally taking risks, all forms of fear and doubt must be cleared and full focus at the task at hand because the leader who blows like the wind can and will never be trusted. The sports brand NIKE said it all “just do it “
Communication goes beyond being able to talk in a large crowd but communication in a leader should require tact, intelligence and knowledge of the listeners, being a man of woman of your words. Follow through the information you need to pass across.
ACT WITH INTENTION...COMMUNICATE AND LEAD WITH CLARITY.
    signed,
    maestroeni(CONTRIBUTOR)

A Nigerian, Ajibola Aiyedogbon wins the Nokia-sponsored competition for mobile app developers in West Africa

Ajibola might seem like a mild mannered individual but the young man in his mid twenties is undoubtedly heading in the right direction with his brilliance and innovativeness. Emerging as the overall winner in Nokia’s create for millions promo.
The Nokia create for millions promo is one of the moves to push for the development of quality applications for their S40 mobile platform. The Nokia-sponsored competition for mobile app developers in West Africa (Create for Millions Competition) has produced 3 winners. The Vice President of Nokia West Africa, Mr. James Rutherfoord explained that the competition was part of Nokia's strategy to deliver mobile phones and services for the next billion.
Mr. Rutherfoord said “competitions of this nature would help improve the quality of locally relevant apps on Nokia's range of devices.” He said West African developers were one of the most active in participating in the global leg of the apps competition at the end of 2011.

The apps that won from West Africa include:
    My cash by teXs (Ajibola Aiyedogbon);
    Maths Practice by Sinelimit
    Danfo by Pledge 51.
My cash by teXs (Ajibola Aiyedogbon) was voted the overall best app and will receive a prize of $5,000. Nokia is also sponsoring all 3 app developers to Barcelona Spain to attend Mobile World Congress – the largest mobile conference in the world. The move is expected to give the app developers needed international exposure. The My cash app by Ajibola Aiyedogbon is a mobile app that helps every conscious individual monitor and regulate their expenses buy input daily and weekly expenses, a sure way to really cut down excessive spending.

Already the young and talented Ajibola is currently working on more mind blowing applications which I have seen firsthand and if I must say his apps are simply exceptional. According to him he has no plans on resting  anytime soon.
You can follow this enigmatic individual on twitter Ajibola Aiyedogbon (@ajibz) facebook: http://www.facebook.com/Ajibz .

I wish him all the best as he continues to make Nigerian developers proud.

Why I accepted FG appointment –Mallam Nuhu Ribadu

Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Wednesday said his acceptance of the offer as chairman of the 21-man Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force, was a decision he took in the interest of the nation.
Ribadu in a statement titled, ‘When the Nation Calls,’  said: “At this point in my life, it is also easy to answer the honest question if it is inappropriate to invest my modest talents and capabilities to my country what I have readily offered many foreign communities, from sister nations in Africa to far flung places like Afghanistan.
“This, if nothing, makes my decision very personal, freeing all affiliations (social and political) of complicity, but investing the decision also with the unique character that when people reach evaluations in favour of their larger communities, it doesn’t necessarily blemish their moral identity.”
The former EFCC boss added: “Given my recent political pedigree, many inquirers naturally wanted to understand what was happening, and whether it was true that I was consulted and whether I would accept the offer.
“The history of my life is a history of public service, and if we cast an honest look to the recent protests in the wake of the oil subsidy removal, it will be clear to all that the biggest single victory Nigerians scored was to put the question of corruption squarely back on the top of our national policy agenda.
“Regardless of our affiliations, our differences, and our engagements, it is at least safe to say that we have a national consensus on the deadly impact of corruption on our march to greatness, and on the capacity of our people, particularly the youth, to earn a decent, promising, life.
“This, therefore, is a national call. In answering it, I go back to the template of my own parents who taught me that honest public service is the greatest asset a person can offer his community.
“It was the same lesson I learnt from his biographical example when my own father returned home as a federal legislator in Lagos to take a job as a local council official in Yola - it is all about the community, and it is sometimes bigger than our personal egos,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ACN said in a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that as a political party, we wish to reiterate our position barring any member of our party from taking any appointment whatsoever from the PDP-led Federal Government. Any member of our party who takes such an appointment does so in his personal capacity,'' it said

Ribadu is on his own — ACN.
ACN said, however, that as a leading opposition party, it will continue to play its role in ensuring good governance and contributing to nation building through its regular constructive criticisms which, hitherto and unfortunately so, have fallen on deaf ears.
“Rushing to poach credible personalities from the opposition without first accepting that it is overwhelmed by the problems facing it smacks of underhand tactics aimed at decimating the opposition and also tarnishing the well-earned credibility of such personalities.
“After all, one can never be sure - going by the deceptive nature of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) - that the kind of appointment now being offered to Malam Ribadu is being made in good faith or just to get credible people to launder the government's badly damaged image and credibility.
“There is also the possibility that booby-traps will be deliberately set for such credible personalities to guarantee their failure in their stated assignment, after which they will be ridiculed and dumped like an ordinary chump,” the party said.
    Ribadu’s decision personal — Falana
Also reacting to Ribadu’s appointment, human rights lawyer and activist, Mr. Femi Falana, recalled that during the recent general strike and public protests against the removal of fuel subsidy, Nigerians were united in demanding accountability and transparency in the oil and gas industry.
He stated that although the battle for the reversal of fuel price to N65 per litre was not fully won, the Goodluck Jonathan administration was compelled to set the engine in motion for the investigation by EFCC of the monumental fuel importation scam.
He said: “Before the protests, the government had shielded the cartel of pampered economic saboteurs smiling to the bank at the nation's expence! The recommendations in the KPMG report submitted to government in November 2010 and thrown to the shelves are now to be implemented.
“The Federal Executive Council has also appointed two external auditors to investigate the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, an agency whose budget has never been submitted to the National Assembly since 1999.
“On its own part, the Lawan Farouk committee set up by the House of Representatives is exposing the unprecedented rot in the fuel subsidy fraud. Incidentally, the ACN members in the committee are doing very well. It is also on record that all the 36 governors, except one, supported the removal of fuel subsidy!”
Falana stated that since the conclusion of the 2011 general election, Ribadu had been involved in the establishment of an anti-corruption agency in Afghanistan, an initiative of the United Nations.
“When he informed me three days ago that the Federal Government had requested him to head a presidential committee to investigate the fraud in the payment of royalties by oil companies, Mr. Nuhu Ribadu made it clear to me that he was going to take a decision after consulting with some trusted political allies.
“Although I expressed my reservations with respect to the commitment of a pro-imperialist regime to engage in genuine transformation, from the way Mr. Ribadu spoke to me, I was left in no doubt that he was totally on his own,” he added.

Well, Ribadu accepting this appointment came as a shock to many and many still have reservations about it but like I tweeted earlier today, only time will tell if he(Ribadu) will hide or fight the criminals a.k.a cabals..
dangel eyez is watching him tho and I shall update you all as the story unfolds
