CORRUPTION OR NOT

THE DEATH SENTENCE OF AL-MUSTAPHA
A Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere on Monday convicted Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State General Sani Abacha and Lateef Shofolahan over the murder of of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola. The accused persons have been sentenced to death by hanging.
Mrs Abiola’s Murder case is adjudged to be the longest criminal trials ever experienced in the nation’s history, lasting more than 12 years with five successive judges during which time the accused persons were held in detention. This time in prison calendar is equivalent to 20 years.
--THE APPEAL
Twenty Four Hours after they were convicted & sentenced to death by hanging, Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan have filed separate notices of appeal against the judgment of the Lagos High Court.

JAMB
 JAMB has extended registration for the 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) from February 2nd to March 4th, 2012. ...while the 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) would take place on March 24th, 2012.
 Also, registration can be done at accredited centers listed on jamb.org.ng

NYSC
Alhaji Bolaji Abdullai, the Minister of Youth Development has directed that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) should post NYSC members to rural areas only from next year.
He also added that there should be no provision for redeployment.

ASUU
Minister of Education, Professor Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, Thursday, assured that the federal government would henceforth endeavour to fulfill every agreement reached with the Academic Staff Union of the Universities,ASUU.
While appreciating the union for its understanding of the federal government’s position to call off the strike, Rufa’i  reiterated government readiness to fulfill every agreement entered into with the academic body
  
BOKO HARAM
Ag. IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar has said Deoxyribonucleic acid otherwise known as DNA will now be used to track down criminals in Nigeria.'

15 suspects are being detained over alleged illegal bunkering of about 30,000 litres of petroleum products, EFCC said yesterday.
