ELITE MODEL LOOK NIGERIA 2010 CASTING....THE STORY!!!

Hi, hope you have all read my post "september :the month of testimonies". if you haven't please do :)
remember to please follow my blog and subscribe to post and do not forget to add eyez to ur username check my followers a.k.a other eyez(i'd soon start using other eyez instead of the word followers, pwease take note ;) ) for example piper eyez and ashawo eyez...lol

With the emln 2010 final close by, I thought i might share with you what the main casting was like. Some blogs might have posts on it but ofcourse most of them(if not all) were not actually participants so this is the story of the Elite Model Look Nigeria 2010 casting from a participant. I decided to try out modelling in Nigeria and particularly decided to enter in two competitions and Elite model look nigeria 2010 was one of them(ofcourse it had to be...its the prestigious ELITE modeling agency)
Elite model agency is one of the top agencies in the world and beth model management is one of the top agencies in Nigeria , a representative of Elite modeling agency and Elite model look competition.
CEO/founder of beth model management, Mrs Elohor Isiorho Beth

 9:07:2010
LOCATION: rehab lounge/bar victoria island,lagos.

I made sure I arrived on time, from what I know as a model you have to be at your casting venue on time but clearly many aspiring models in Nigeria dont know that(advice: the nigerian time should not hold when it comes to business as TIME IS MONEY).. oh well I met some girls there and we all sat , filled forms(for those of us that had just tellers), talked, measured ourselves and just gisted about the whole competition while we waited for others to come.
At about 12pm, lots of slim and beautiful ladies had filled up the place. Although I came across some people who shouldn’t have been there. Hey! I am not trying to be mean and all but the registration form was 5000naira and there were requirements that makes eligible to apply and some girls did not just fit it especially the height part, I saw short girls and some were not even close to being slim. oh! I know there is something called luck but you have to atleast satisfy the required requirements before you start thinking of how you can get lucky. So for me it was sad to see people waste 5000naira.(in my opinion)

Well, after sometime the organizers came to talk to us about the whole thing and gave some instructions that I’d love to share

Remove all makeup- little or no makeup at all is required for castings
We should all be wearing slim fitted clothes-prefarably tanktop and jean/tights
Your hair should not be on your face-
We must be on our heels when we go to see the judges
They are looking for girls with striking looks, great body, good skin, 5'7 and above, ages 18-23,confident and they are not particular about whether the girl can catwalk or not.

So everyone had to start adjusting . I met various girls, some had come all the way from enugu and different parts of the country, some had experience in modeling but ofcourse winning emln2010 will just be great and some were just trying “the thing” out.
BY THE WAY , It was all about blackberry phone. I was about to ask if there was a particular network giving out the phone for free because about 90% of the girls I saw were “pinging”. I was part of the 10% that wasn’t, I just looked at my phone and smiled “oh nokia me still inlove with you, don’t worry”…lol. Denrele also came...lol... I'm sure I  really don't have to explain how he was looking..hehe.. denrele!! but he definitely reduced the tension that filled the room.

Well its about time, the judges had come now and it was time to begin.

We all had numbers pinned to our shirts, trust me when I say everyone was set to be part of the finalist,I MEAN IT but it was now left for the judges to decide.
And the judges from left to right were beautiful lola maja(God did take His time to create her..omg!), dimeji alara, ezinne chinkata and andrew ogbechi
I was number 13 and as I went in I was about to start walking when I heard Andrew shout "back!!"...oops! my bad, I had to go start my walking from the end of the room...lol..anyways I did and I walked forward(I have a great walk, just thought I should mention that..lol but the organizers were not taking "ability to walk" into consideration) so I just did that for "efizzy"..lol
well Andrew clearly made his point about the fact that coming in with our natural hair would have been much better and ezinne talked about most Nigerian girls not having toned stomach(I tried a little). They asked for name, age and statistics(bust, waist, hips and height) and that was it.

As usual when I got out, everyone was sharing their experiences with the judges, "andrew ogbechi is really strict","lola maja tried to be nice","I forgot what to say","the judges are really professionals","they were able to tell I was bleaching"..many people had their own story to tell . I was actually asked if I was wearing fake lashes and I was like "yes, i mean no, its mascara" (DO NOT LAUGH!!!!!)

So the time came to call out the numbers of those that made it through to the next day and everyone wanted to hear their number called out including me

Annette Begg 2009 winner
Tracy Onyekachukwu EMLN2008 winner

ok ok I am sorry to cut the story here(dont kill me yet) but I do not like long posts and this one right here is a long post nominee..lol...so if you want to know who the FINALIST are and I'm sure you want to know if i made it
so that my dear and many more about EMLN2010... click here

ELITE MODEL LOOK NIGERIA 2010 CASTING....THE STORY!!! pt2

...this is a continuation of the story on this page: http://dangelola.blogspot.com/2010/09/elite-model-look-nigeria-2010_08.html

and they called out the numbers, all I wanted to hear was 13 ............. AND I DID!!
yay!!! I made it through the first round...we were told to come back tomorrow for the final phase and there would be another judge...THE WOMAN FROM PARIS, a representative of elite model agency paris...hmmm now we had to face the judges again with an extra judge from paris?? OH ME GOSH!!

10:07:2010
LOCATION: rehab lounge/bar victoria island,lagos.

There were over 70 new faces including a contestant from nokia face of africa. yes!!it was going to be another tough day  and those that got through the day before and the new ones today were not separarted. Hence, the 30 girls from the day before started saying their scary thoughts aloud: "there are prettier girls today", "they might not even look at those of us that came yesterday" and so many other thoughts were shared.
Well the casting started, the woman from paris was a bit elderly, cute and small but the look on her face said,"i know exactly what i am looking for".
Numbers that made it through to the second stage of today were called and it was bikini time(whose got good skin and a great body). We were made up and went in bikini to be judged again, after which numbers were called again and we were reduced to 20(yeah!! I was still there).

Then we had to take pictures next: front view, side view and back view in our bikini. And it was time for THE SELECTION, we filed in a single line to where the judges were and when its your turn , you are told whether you made it in or not....OH WELL, this is where the journey ended for me as I was not picked. The judges did a great job, really professional so there was"no mago mago, no wayo o" in this one. I was really tired at the end tho.
SO THE FINALIST WERE SELECTED AND THEY WERE 14
contestant1
contestant2

contestant3

contestant4
contestant5
contestant6
contestant7
contestant8
contestant9
contestant10
contestant11
contestant12

                  what do you think??
do they all have stunning features??
who will be the lucky winner??

cast your vote at the right side of this blog!!!!
**by the way your votes do not affect the decision that will be made**
its just for fun, lets see who we think the winner should be. ;)

For more information on the cholera outbreak, view my post on it.

Wife Pleads For Deposed Deji’s Reinstatement

About 3 months ago, the Deji of Akure,Oluwadare Adesina Adepoju was  banished to Owo for six months on June 10 2010 over public outcry that followed the allegation of wife battering leveled against him. The picture on the left is what his wife looked like when he was done beating her. (sad right?? how exactly is he supposed to lead his people when he is not a good example ). Well, that was over 3 months ago because right now his dear wife is pleading that her husband be reinstated that both families have settled their differences. I do not understand what is making her to plead on his behalf, is she under pressure, simply ignorant or just inlove?? no further comments..this is just a sad case!!

September: The month of testimonies!!!!

Please follow blog and subscribe to post so you do not miss out on anything :D :D .
and remember to add "eyez " to your username e.g piper eyez and daydah eyez.....

At the beginning of every month pastors or leaders in various churches make declarations about the month like AUGUST in a church can be declared as the month of healing. I am sure Nigerians understand what I mean.
Anyways, september began and I had no declaration for the month, well, most times I dont  but this was about to change. Allow me to take you back in time for few minutes.
Some time this year my aunt had a baby boy just before she went into coma for three days. yup!! I just got a call from my mum crying and saying I should pray(i was in school) that my aunt had just put to bed but she is in coma now, they really don't know what the outcome will be(the doctor had asked them to wait and keep praying)
I was worried but I wasn't home so I did not even have an idea of how everything was at home. Well, I did pray and eventually she got better.

On sunday, was her thanksgiving, thanking God for her life and that of her baby. As she danced and sang praises to God , tears rolled down her cheeks. It was then it dawned on me that my dearest aunt would have been gone by now and tears just came pouring down my cheeks too. She could not even give account of what happened to her because she wasn't conscious at the time . It was indeed a testimony.
Every monday morning, we normally have fellowship at the place I work and everyone just had one testimony to share including myself and at that point it just clicked that this is A month of testimonies and I should let people know.
So If God has done something great for you this year and you have not shared it with someone or people around you , please do.
Never forget to be grateful to God for who you are today or where you are today... if things are not going according to your plan, then you are lucky cos it is going according to God's will so stop doubting if there is a God or not, or if He really listens to you or not HE KNOWS BEST.

Its the month of testimonies SEPTEMBER,
if you have a testimony you are yet to share, share it today
and if you have shared testimonies , then more are on their way :)

much love,
dangel eyez

ANOTHER CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN NIGERIA- BE AWARE & BEWARE!!

I know it’s a new month and many of us are happy and comfortable as we begin the month in good health, unfortunately some states especially the Northern states in Nigeria are experiencing a terrible thing this month and it has been going on for months .

I came across this news in PUNCH newspaper this morning titled“Another Cholera Outbreak”. Sometime in July I heard on the radio about the outbreak but I did not pay much attention to it, but seeing it this morning and the fact that it is getting worse has brought me to the point where I have to blog about it.

The federal ministry of health  disclosed that the death toll in borno, bauchi and 5 other states had risen from  360 to 571.The number of infected persons has also increased from 5,320 to 10,134, out of which Borno and Bauchi states recorded 2,617 and 2,417 cases respectively. There had been more than 6,400 cholera cases since June and the disease has been detected in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states.

This is really heartbreaking !!!
I  further read that this epidemic could have been avoided if serious measures were taken when cholera outbreak was reported in our neighbouring Cameroon in early June.
There were warnings that it might affect Northern Nigeria but nothing really was done to prevent it. L This outbreak happens regularly and its sadly due to poor sanitation and contaminated wells .

I know it’s a new month and we are all happy but lets put this epidemic in mind:
  • Drink boiled or treated water, tea and coffee must also be made out of treated water
  • Eat food and vegetables that have been thoroughly, thoroughly cooked and still hot
  • Avoid raw foods, salad, undercooked fish or seafood.
I do hope that health authorities will make available adequate supply of antibiotics and fight hard to prevent this disease from spreading further.
I believe we should not still be at the level of contaminated WELLS!!  when exactly are things going to get better????

May God be with our brothers and sisters suffering from this disease. AMEN .

Keep your environment clean all the time.
Stay healthy,
dangel eyez

NIGERIANS AND MUSIC COMPETITIONS- something seems wrong to me

please remember when you are getting a nickname , pls end it with eyez

!!!happy new month!!! hope all your good dreams come true this month.

First of all , I will love to say KUDOS to all the reality shows finding out the beautiful voices in Nigeria and giving them a platform to showcase their voices. yup!! dangel eyez supports you all the way as its all about giving a voice/platform to the talented Nigerians.

Mtn project fame is currently on, I’m really sorry about the ugly fire incident and I hope recovering from it is less painfull, others include west African idol(only 1 season),naija sings(auditions are on ,almost over or over for the next season),star quest and others. They are all doing a great job atleast I hope

But something worries me about these competititons: WHY DON’T WE SEE OR HEAR WHAT THESE CONTESTANTS ARE UP TO after the competition. Or maybe I should ask questions instead:
are Nigerians ready for music competitions?

are Nigerians ready to give them support all the way EVEN AFTER THE SHOW???

are we ready for the songs these talented people are trained in the house to sing??

are  the songs Nigerians are expecting from them the kind of songs they want to sing???

With the quality training they get , at least half of the contestants should be making waves in Nigeria and in fact(I mean, you know..lol)outside Nigeria as well with real good music but sadly L  I can’t see any of them!!
Where is Jodie(oh! how I adore her), uche, eric from west African idol, tamara(amazinggg voice),rolake and others from naija sings and the good contestants from Mtn project fame?(I was not able to follow the last show well but I know for sure there were great singers there as well). How far have they gone in the music industry? Why have we not heard anything from them.

Omawunmi(West African idol) is doing great but why is she the only one??
I actually heard Timi Dakolo’s(west African idol winner) tracks and they are really good click to see heaven please by timi ft m.i, a lot less than our normal Nigerian tune but then they are “idol” worthy. So why are they not topping charts?
could it be that they have songs that “won't sell” in Nigeria because they might sound too “western”? What exactly is wrong???

You notice for the first time , my title is a question..yes,yes,yes!!! This topic confuses or more like worries me a lot.
So what exactly is the essence of these shows when we cannot see their products or we are not ready to accept what their products have to offer.

I believe these shows should serve as foundations for great things for these contestants to succeed in music, after all that is why they were part of the show(their passion for music) it should not just be about the vibe or the prize(hmmmm now I’m rhyming..niceee).

Established artists should be able to feature some of these contestants in their songs
Established producers should have plans of working with any one or two of them as soon as they come out.
If these contestants are not blessed with writing/composing skills then its high time people start writing/composing songs for others to sing in Nigeria like it happens in.. (oh I am so trying not to make comparisons!!)

I do not know how many people have thought about this but I guess I “blog” the minds of many. So do share your views with me.. I am sure ur eyez have seen, now its time to blog about it.

                                                                   Happy New Month,
                                                                      dangel eyez
