Fundraiser dinner for Kechi Okwuchi: the Sosoliso plane crash survivor

In December 2005, about 60 Loyola Jesuit College students lost their lives in the Sosoliso Plane Crash. Kechi Okwuchi was the only student and one of two people who survived the plane crash. Since then, she has undergone about 75 surgeries.
But Kechi still needs help. She is scheduled to begin facial reconstructive surgeries in Boston this summer.
Two of her close friends(GOD BLESS THEM), Somachi Chris Asoluka and Yimi Omofuma are doing something amazing for their friend. They are trying to help her raise money to help her cover the cost of her surgeries. Please see a message from them below and pass on to as many Nigerians as possible.
“A devastating plane crash, over 60% intensive burns, up to five weeks in medically-induced coma and over 75 surgeries to date have not hampered the spirit of our friend, Kechi Okwuchi. She may have been terribly disfigured by the accident but Kechi’s determination and hope to achieve her dreams regardless, inspire us each day. We would like to share her story so that it may inspire you too.”
A NEW DAWN: FUNDRAISER FOR KECHI OKWUCHI

A summary of her medical progress from  after the accident till now with pictures http://www.kechiokwuchifundraiser.com/information_packet.pdf

"Kechi underwent multiple surgeries in South Africa. After waking up from her coma, she had to relearn to do everything again. She learned to sit, she learned to stand, she learned to walk and use her limbs. Needless to say, this process was painful. But one thing she never needed to learn was how to smile again"
please pass this message on and try your best to help out.

THE SIX-YEAR TENURE BILL BY GEJ ...GOOD OR BAD??

Yesterday evening, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan announced that he will send a Constitution amendment Bill to the National Assembly that will provide A SIX YEAR SINGLE TENURE for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Governors of the 36 states of the Federation.

GOOD OR BAD??

In my opinion, I think its a good idea. What we have now are some leaders spending the last year of their first tenure and using up resources just to ensure they return for a second term. If its a single term of a certain amount of years, then there's no dream of coming back to power and hopefully 6 years will be spent leaving a good mark and serving the country and not channelling our resources into getting re-elected.

My fear is what if for some reason, we elect in a bad leader.. will we have to manage him for 6yrs??

Oh!! and those greedy leaders who will be soooo glad that they won't have to spend the money they plan to steal on getting re-elected... hmmm

I THINK IT SHOULD BE A SINGLE TENURE OF FIVE YEARS NOT SIX.... abi???
what do you think?
good or bad??

INTERVIEW WITH THE 1ST RUNNER UP OF MR IDEAL NIGERIA 2011

Earlier this year, I was asked to be a judge at the Mr Ideal Nigeria 2011 competition. It was the first event for me as a judge and I was excited. Most of the contestants clearly showed they had done their homework well and came prepared, it was an experience for me and NO , I wasn't a mean judge..lol.
One of the contestants that put in his best is Izu who has a tedious job but still put in his best and came out second. He will be representing Nigeria in the Mr tourism Internaional world Finals 2011 contest.
DangelEyez had a chat with him on how he felt about the competition, why he entered for the competition and more.

DangelEyez: So who is IZU?

IZU is a young banker, creative, eager to succeed in his dreams, calm, caring, hard working, passionate about entertainment and modelling.

DangelEyez: How did you feel when you were announced as the runner - up ?

Izu:Well I thought I would win and many people felt so too but God has his own way of doing things. When I was called as the 1st runner up, I was happy, I have already prayed to God and done all things that could make me win the competition. So I had a mindset of ' whatever happens take it in good faith', I still got the chance of representing Nigeria internationally at Mr Tourism International World Finals holding in Panama by November so I was glad because the competition was fierce and so many contestants would love to be where I am now.

DangelEyez: How did you prepare for the contest ?

Izu: It was not easy preparing for the contest, I am a banker and always close very late from work yet I hit the gym at least 4 times in a week, doing some cardio to burn fats and weight training to tone my muscles, most times I come back so late like 10pm. It was tough, I had to change my diet to fruits and vegetables and I avoided alcohol, I also downloaded Tyson Beckford's runway video's and learnt how a model should be walking on the runway. I took a course on public speaking, seeked advise from top models like reigning Mr Nigeria Kenneth Okolie and practised my talent routine which was Aerobic Dancing. I really worked hard and it paid off.

DangelEyez: What are you going to do with your title ?

Izu:  Before now I was to work on my pet project 'Food & Fitness 4 All' but as the current Mr. Tourism Int'l Nigeria, I have to do a project on tourism to encourage and enhance our environment. I am unveiling my project titled 'GREEN NAIJA' which discourages deforestation, encourages planting of trees, keeping the environment clean & creating jobs to some young people who would be doing the cleaning assignment, highlighting our tourist centres and its proper development above all showing off how Green Nigeria is to the

world regarding our rich culture and history.

DangelEyez: What do you think of the organisers ?

Izu: The Mr Ideal Nigeria Organisers did a wonderful job, from the start of the competition every contestant felt their aura, their website was breathtaking and every arrangement was on point. Other contestants that didn't make it to top 4 still got awards like photogenic, best body, Mr. Congeniality etc. So it was free and fair. It was a great thing being a part of them now and I am using this forum to say a big thank you to the director Ayotunde Twitch & all those that made the show spectacular. I look forward having a great reign with them.

I always say that it is possible to create time for anything you have passion for. It will be difficult but it will pay off.
I wish him all the best in the Mr Tourism International contest
Kudos to house of twitch

HOT NEW VIDEO: SOUL IS HEAVY - NNEKA

"...America,the soul is heavy, the little you have left for me I try to function in your madness".

The talented female singer, Nneka is back with a new song  forcing us to think about what is going on around us or in this case, the people that fought for their fellow Nigerians in the past.

Do we all know Ken Saro Wiwa?

I mean even if you don't like her kind of music, you'll have to admit she is an extremely talented singer and writer. her lyrics are deep.
I love the song, she delivers brilliantly with passion and the emotion she shows for every part of the song makes you drawn to what she is saying. The video is simple and equally brilliant.

I had to do a quick check on Ken Saro Wiwa hence, the very short piece on him below:

Saro-Wiwa led a nonviolent campaign against environmental degradation of the land and waters of Ogoniland by the operations of themultinational petroleum industry, especially Shell
At the peak of his non-violent campaign, in the Abacha regim, himself and eight of his fellow activists were sentenced to death by hanging for a crime they DID NOT COMMIT. Very few observers were surprised when the tribunal declared a "guilty" verdict, but most were shocked that the penalty would be death by hanging for all nine defendants.
Many thought they will not be killed as that will attract sanctions by many international organisation but on November 10, 1995, according to most accounts, Saro Wiwa was the last to be hanged and so was forced to watch the death of his colleagues.
Information on the circumstances of Saro-Wiwa's own death are unclear, but it is generally agreed that multiple attempts were required before Saro-Wiwa died

MUSIC MEETS RUNWAY ..PICTURES!!!

Well , last week was a busy one for me as the rehearsals&fittings for Music Meets Runway began and I was one of the models for the fashion show.
I had a nice time working with most of them that had a role to play in the fashion show as they are really nice people and  were dedicated to their jobs. Thumbs up to
MMR model manager, Nneka Ezeaka as she did a good job managing everything concerning the models' welfare.

These are my personal pictures from earlier in the day of the MMR event.
I should say now that the quality of the pictures aren't great but oh well, still have fun
viewing them. :)

PDP DEMANDS GOV. FASHOLA'S RESIGNATION OVER FLOOD IN LAGOS

"The Lagos state chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for the "immediate resignation" of the governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola over the flooding of most parts of the state on Sunday.

The party also demanded an unreserved apology from the governor and the payment of adequate compensation to the families of those who lost their lives and property in the flood.

"Contrary to the claim by the state government that Lagosians dump refuse and build on the drainage, the actual cause of the flooding is lack of proper drainage. It is uncomplimentary for the state government to accuse Lagos residents for its own negligence, dereliction of duty and maladministration," the statement read.

According to the party, the state government had over the years failed to clear primary drainage in the state which resulted in last Sunday's floods. It also alleged that the blocking of waterways by construction companies also contributed to the flooding."

Okay, this is just hilarious . This just beats all the bb broadcast jokes and twitter jokes that I've come across concerning the flood.
I really have nothing to say. HONESTLY, something serious needs to be done about the drainage system in lagos and I AM PRETTY PRETTY SURE it has nothing to do with the Governor resigning. shikena!!

THE ISSUE BETWEEN THE NIGERIAN EVENT AND AMBER ROSE...MY OPINION!!

I am sure most of you have heard about the Music Meets Runway Event which is STILL holding on the 9th.

According to the organisers, Amber rose was to host the show but yesterday, she tweeted that she had no idea that she was to host any show in Nigeria.

The day before, I was at the rehearsal for some reason for the fashion show part of the event and there was a lot of good energy and everything looked ready and good to go from the models to the makeup. So I was actually shocked when I read Amber's tweets.

She tweeted this on October 17, last year. I don't know if it had anything to do with the show but I thought it did, looks like it did to me.

Amber Rose
After LAGOS NIGERIA!!! Who would have thought I would have a crazy fan base in Nigeria???? Super Cool! :-)
This she tweeted yesterday morning concerning the event. The rosebud part is still hilarious..lmao.
"Hey my Nigerian Rosebuds I am NOT booked for anything in Nigeria at all if I’m not booked thru info@behindhershades.com then its not real. I wld LOVE to come to Nigeria if u guys really want me there Pls book me thru Info@behindhershades.com"
 In response, the organizers said

".... Due to recent developments of Amber Roses nude photos that surfaced on the internet last week, we were in discussion as to what to do about the situation with some of our sponsors who had understandably shown some concern. We were still in discussions with our sponsors to accommodate Amber when we read Amber Roses tweet about her not being booked to host Music Meets Runway.

Amber has indeed been booked and paid for through a reputable international booking agent and we were as surprised as anyone to see the tweet.... "
and later on she deleted the above tweet and tweeted the next two.

HOT NEW VIDEO: TOMORROW by RETTA

The first time i heard the song "I dey kolo for you" by Retta, I fell in love with the song and shared the news of my new found love with everyone...It is one thing to sing a good song and another to get the video right, so I was impressed by her first single.

Her second single, "Tomorrow" is just as brilliant as the first with strong lyrics and a beautiful instrumental. Once again, the video is right and compliments the song.

Directed by Clarence Peters
song written and produced by Oscar Heman-Ackah
ENJOY

I'm glad she did not annoy me with her facial expressions (some nigerian artists dont get it right.) :D.
This is a music video that stayed true to the concept of its song.
The guy just standing there doesn't look real to me though  especially with the close-up view at the end.  In My Opinion, they should have used a person instead.
Great song , Great video
much luv,
